The Baptist Heart Institute Heart Transplant Program celebrated National Donate Life Blue & Green Day on Friday, April 10 to help raise awareness of the need for organ donation. Baptist Anderson Regional Medical Center, Baptist Memorial Hospital-Booneville and Baptist Memorial Hospital-Carroll County also held Blue & Green Day events.
Baptist Heart Institute
Baptist Heart Institute team members celebrated Blue & Green Day with patients and other guests on the lawn of Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis. A heart transplant recipient raised the Mid-South Transplant Foundation’s Donate Life flag in honor of all who have given the gift of life through organ and tissue donation. The event also included the “planting” of 594 pinwheels, with eight blades symbolizing the eight lives that can be saved from each organ donor. The pinwheels were placed in the ground in the shape of a heart in front of the hospital to represent the 93 lung transplants and 501 heart transplants that have been performed at Baptist Heart Institute.
Baptist Anderson
Baptist Anderson hosted a Donate Life flag-raising ceremony to celebrate the gift of life. Guest speakers included Sue Owen, a local transplant recipient, and Samantha Logan, Baptist Anderson team member and wife of a transplant recipient. Team members dressed in blue and green to raise awareness of the life-changing impact of organ, eye and tissue donation.

Team members in attendance enjoyed cookies and cake, provided by Mid-South Transplant Foundation.
