Baptist Collierville and Baptist DeSoto Open Outpatient Pharmacies

Baptist team members, patients, guests and anyone in the community can fill their prescriptions at the new outpatient pharmacies at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Collierville and Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto.

These new pharmacies are part of an expanding network of Baptist outpatient pharmacies. Please see the map at the end of this article for a full list.

“The outpatient pharmacy provides comprehensive prescription services for team members and their families,” said Baptist DeSoto Pharmacy Director Stacey Causey. “Prescriptions can be sent directly to the pharmacy and are prepared for pickup at the end of the workday, allowing staff to avoid additional trips to external pharmacies after hours. The pharmacy also carries a variety of over-the-counter medications for urgent needs, enabling team members to quickly access necessary items during their shifts.”

Baptist outpatient pharmacies are not only convenient for team members, but they can also be the most affordable option with the lowest co-pay.

“Team members can fill their prescriptions on site quickly in a lower volume environment and know the pharmacist has a vested interest in their experience and health care,” said Baptist Collierville Pharmacy Director Adam Boucher. “We can help facilitate the most efficient and cost-effective delivery of prescriptions by working with Baptist’s full scope of available pharmacy services, which may include setting up mail order delivery or transferring specialty medications to our specialty pharmacy.”

Baptist pharmacists can add the missing personal touch that is often lacking at higher volume chain pharmacies.

Baptist DeSoto Lead Outpatient Pharmacist Amanda Smith shared, “Being able to fill prescriptions right here on site is a real benefit for our team members. It saves them an extra stop after a long shift and gives them convenient, affordable access to medications in a setting where they’re supported by pharmacists who know them and understand their needs.”

Baptist Collierville Lead Outpatient Pharmacist Brian Millikin said, “If we run into barriers filling your prescription, we will not just go one step further, but we will exhaust every option to give our patients and employees access to their medications. We want to make sure people leave feeling cared for.”

Baptist pharmacies use Epic to see up-to-date health information, which allows for seamless care between Baptist clinics, hospitals and pharmacies.

“We offer a unique opportunity for Baptist patients in that we are tied more directly to their care and have insight to the full scope of their medical needs. Being a part of the hospital team, we can more efficiently contact patients’ providers and have access to medical records to ensure the safest use of prescribed medications,” said Boucher.

Patients as well as team members will benefit from the addition of the new outpatient pharmacies.

“We aim to provide an elevated pharmacy experience to patients that cannot be achieved in traditional community pharmacy settings,” said Boucher. “Baptist Collierville patients can experience a previously missing piece of the care model and leave our facility with their prescriptions filled whether they were an inpatient discharging, a surgery patient with crucial post-op medications or a patient in the community looking for a more personalized experience. We would like to be seen as the preferred pharmacy services provider in the community and for our team members.”

The Meds to Beds Program is offered by several Baptist outpatient pharmacies, including Baptist DeSoto Outpatient Pharmacy and Baptist Collierville Outpatient Pharmacy. It’s available for patients who are discharged from the hospital, have outpatient surgery or visit the Emergency department.

“Our Meds to Beds Program allows us to prepare and deliver discharge medications directly to the patient’s bedside prior to their departure from the hospital. This initiative significantly enhances the patient experience, as most patients appreciate the convenience of receiving their medications promptly without visiting a retail pharmacy,” said Causey.

At all Baptist outpatient pharmacies, there’s an emphasis on providing personalized care and developing relationships with patients.

“We believe pharmacy services extend beyond simply filling prescriptions; they are about building strong relationships. We want patients and team members to choose us consistently because they recognize we genuinely care about their health and well-being,” said Causey.
