Baptist Anderson Regional Medical Center recently honored non-nursing team members who work in supportive roles or provide direct patient care and consistently go above and beyond to make a difference for patients, visitors and coworkers with the BEE Award.
Aushauna Leverett, patient care assistant in Medical-Surgical, received the BEE Award when her patient’s wife nominated her for her compassion and dedication. The nominator commented, “My husband requires frequent care, and Aushauna helped bathe him and change his bed. She speaks so kindly to him and explains everything she’s doing, and he always cooperates with her — which isn’t the case with everyone.”
Laporshia Ruffin, Cardiac Rehab exercise specialist, was presented with the BEE Award after a patient nominated her for her dedication and skills. “From the very beginning, Laporshia created a thoughtful and effective plan that helped me regain both my physical strength and my confidence. What stood out most about Laporshia was her kind and supportive nature. She made a real difference in my recovery journey,” the nominator noted.
Susan Troup, patient care assistant on the Medical-Surgical Cardiac unit, won the BEE Award after a patient’s family member nominated her for going above and beyond while caring for her mother. “She always came by to check in just in case we needed anything. She got things like pillows, blankets and a pad to try and keep not only my mom — her patient — comfortable, but also me as her caregiver and visitor. I can’t tell you how much better she made our time in the hospital,” the nominator said.
