Six Baptist Memorial Hospital nurses recently received the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. Keep reading to learn more about these nurses and why they were recognized.
Baptist Anderson Regional Medical Center
Kloe Goodin, registered nurse in Labor and Delivery, won the DAISY award for her dedication and attentiveness. A patient nominated Goodin and shared the following: “Kloe provided truly exceptional care during my labor and delivery. Her attention to detail, genuine compassion and dedication made one of the most emotional moments of my life so much easier. She was always one step ahead of my needs. I will never forget the difference she made for me and my family.”
Lexi Hamilton, registered nurse in the Emergency department, received the DAISY award for her compassion and professionalism. The patient who nominated Hamilton said: “Lexi provided extraordinary care during one of the most frightening moments of my life — my first seizure. She showed incredible kindness, compassion and professionalism. She stayed by my side, reassuring me every step of the way and carefully explaining everything that was happening, including each medication and procedure.”
A patient nominated Shelby Savell, registered nurse in Labor and Delivery, for the DAISY award for her kindness and compassion. The nominator said: “Shelby was my nurse during the delivery of both of my children, and I truly do not have enough words to explain the impact she made on me during those life-changing moments. She treated me with genuine kindness, patience, compassion and care that came from her heart, and you can feel the difference when someone truly loves what they do.”
Baptist Memorial Hospital-Collierville
Heather Wiggins, registered nurse in the Surgery Center, earned the DAISY award for her compassion and dedication. Wiggins was nominated by a patient who praised her for the assistance she provided during her recovery from surgery. The nominator shared: “She was attentive with her care and went above and beyond her regular duties. She provided physical comfort, emotional support and constant reassurance that I would be OK. By the time I was taken to my room for discharge, Heather had both my pain and my emotional state under control.”
Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto
A colleague nominated Emma Merry, a float pool registered nurse, for the DAISY award for her dedication and selfless attitude. The nominator said: “Emma truly went above and beyond, not only for the patient but also for her team member during a very challenging moment. Her willingness to help, selfless attitude and unwavering commitment to patient-centered care exemplify the very best of nursing. Emma consistently puts her patients first and she exhibits teamwork, compassion and excellence.”
Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle
Sophia Jamison, licensed practical nurse in Medical-Surgical, won the DAISY Award for her dedication and compassion. The patient who nominated Jamison shared: “Her guidance played an important role in my progress. She also seemed to have a special gift for knowing exactly when a smile, a laugh or a few encouraging words were needed most. My daughters were constantly by my side throughout my stay, and she treated them with the same warmth, respect and compassion that she showed me.”
