Baptist University Students and Staff Volunteer on 9/11 Day

Baptist Memorial Health Care sponsored 12 Baptist Health Sciences University students and staff at the 9/11 Day Meal Pack event held on Sept. 11 at FedExForum. The participants, including Memphis Grizzlies players and other community members, volunteered to pack nearly 200,000 meals for the Mid-South Food Bank.

“Our Baptist Health Sciences University students who so enthusiastically participated in the 9/11 Day Meal Pack event helped to remind us that service is a powerful way to remember and honor this day,” said Baptist University’s Director of Faith Integration and Service Rusty Woods, who joined students at the event. “Working with other volunteers, we packed meals that will support families in our community.”

The 9/11 Day Meal Pack event in Memphis was part of an initiative to recognize the 25th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2021, with volunteer service. The event brought together volunteers in more than 50 cities to pack 20 million meals on the Sept. 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance.
