‘Own Your Season’ Wellness Challenge Comes to an End

During the holiday season, Baptist and Salvation Army Kroc Center Memphis presented Own Your Season, a wellness challenge that focused on helping participants use simple, daily actions to maintain a healthy lifestyle with videos featuring workouts, nutrition tips and mental health guidance.

“The videos helped me add easy exercises to my day that I could essentially do anywhere with limited space or time,” said Chair and Professor of Health Administration and Public Health at Baptist Health Sciences University Briana Jegier, Ph.D. “The exercises were a good way to have a quick reset or reconnect with my body to feel good about the day.”

Professor Jegier was one of five participants who won $100 gift cards. Other winners include Latasha Echols, Heidi Rupke, Joe Spake and Gleator Jackson. A few of their comments about how participating in the program benefited them are below.

“I spent a little more time with calm and gratitude because of the question prompts,” said Rupke.

“In past years, the holiday season has been a difficult and depressing time for me. This year, I made a conscious decision to do things differently. I stayed consistent with my workouts, didn’t isolate and implemented several of the tips and strategies that were shared in the program,” said Echols.

“I benefited from the holistic approach to health, especially in having quick video access to exercise routines, as well as helpful nutrition and mental health content,” said Spake.
