James Nelson to Speak at April Preaching Series

James Nelson, pastor of Riverview Community Church in South Memphis, will be the featured speaker for the Rev. Jimmy Terry Preaching Series on Thursday, April 16 at noon in Garrett Auditorium. The auditorium is located at 6027 Walnut Grove Road on Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis’ campus.

Pastor Nelson is a graduate of American Baptist College and Memphis Theological Seminary. He was licensed and ordained by the Rev. Samuel Billy Kyles, founding pastor of Monumental Baptist Church and a champion for civil rights.

Pastor Nelson served in the administration of Shelby County and Memphis Mayor AC Wharton Jr. for 13 years. He currently serves as the manager of partnerships and development for Memphis-Shelby County Schools. He is married to Osha Nelson, and together they have six children and two grandchildren.
