Baptist OneCare Launches at Baptist Anderson

Shuanda Sears, RN, is assisted by Epic Super User Courtney Small, RNC-OB, during the Baptist OneCare go-live at Baptist Anderson Regional Medical Center.

On Thursday, Aug. 1, Baptist Anderson Regional Medical Center and Baptist Anderson Regional Medical Center-South launched Baptist OneCare, our premier electronic health record system powered by Epic. The launch also included Baptist Medical Group-Meridian Medical Associates and Baptist Medical Group-Internal Medicine Clinic, as well as other Baptist Medical Group clinics in the area. The go-live was supported by nearly 2,000 new workstations and mobile devices across hospitals and clinics.

Several other enterprise applications were part of the launch, including Computrition, software for foodservice automation, and the OBIX Perinatal Data System, which provides central, bedside and remote electronic fetal monitoring.

“Aug. 1 was a very important day,” said Chris Hopper, system director for Baptist OneCare. “We’re excited about this launch that follows many months of preparation, planning, testing and training.”

As part of this implementation, patients now have access to MyChart, which provides secure online access to their personal medical records and medication history. They may request prescription refills, schedule doctor’s appointments and pay medical bills. Patients can also communicate with their medical team and conduct virtual visits and e-visits through the app.

“Baptist OneCare is about convenience, safety and continuity of care for patients,” said John G. Anderson, administrator and CEO of Baptist Anderson. “By joining the Baptist OneCare MyChart network, our patients will have access to a secure, convenient way to view and manage their health information and coordinate their care with their physicians from anywhere in the world. We are excited to provide a seamless method for patients to receive and continue their care in any situation.”

Epic is an employee-owned and developer-led software system recognized as the No. 1 Overall Software Suite in KLAS, an award that recognizes software and services companies who excel in helping health care professionals improve patient care, for 13 consecutive years. More than 305 million patients have a current electronic record in Epic.
