Baptist DeSoto Celebrates Graduating Residents

About 150 guests gathered on June 6 to honor Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto’s Graduate Medical Education Family Medicine Residency and Transitional Year Residency class of 2026. The graduates enjoyed dinner and a presentation of awards and diplomas, as well as heard remarks from guest speakers and outgoing chief residents.

Dr. Daniel Hogue served as the program director for the current graduates of the Family Medicine Residency Program, and Dr. Karah Snider stepped into that role this year for incoming students. Dr. Christopher McDaniel serves as the program director for the Transitional Year Residency Program.

The seven Family Medicine Residency Program graduates include Dr. Francis Agama, Dr. Vicenda Augustin, Dr. Nadir Ebrahim, Dr. Ravallika Konda, Dr. Avinash Patel, Dr. Golnaz F. Shirazi and Dr. Kayla Sweeten.

Agama will be joining Baptist Memorial Hospital-Collierville as a hospitalist, while Patel and Sweeten will be practicing primary care with Baptist Medical Group-Southaven Family Practice and joining the Graduate Medical Education department of Baptist DeSoto as core faculty for the Family Medicine Residency Program.

The 15 Transitional Year residency graduates include Dr. Ola Ali, Dr. Jeffery Anderson, Dr. Lisa Deptula, Dr. Priti Ezhuvathra, Dr. Aaron Haider, Dr. Fatima Javed, Dr. Chris Kim, Dr. Chinyere Oparaji, Dr. Jonathan Martinez, Dr. Kyndal Ellzey Morgan, Dr. Aaron Rice, Dr. Spencer Rushing, Dr. Amber Shirley, Dr. Benjamin Tran and Dr. Shayan Abdollah Zadegan.

Several of the Transitional Year Residency Program graduates will be entering the Baptist Diagnostic Radiology Program as postgraduate year two, or PGY2.

Dr. Jason Coleman donated the use of his venue, Cypress Hall in Hernando, Mississippi, for the graduation.

“Dr. Coleman was wonderful to work with and went above and beyond,” said Lacey Coats, manager of physician residency for Baptist DeSoto. “We would also like to extend a special note of gratitude to the Office of Mississippi Physician Workforce for their generous support in making this occasion truly memorable.”
