Baptist DeSoto and Baptist Union County Host Annual Baby Fairs

Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto and Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County celebrated babies and kids and provided resources for families at events in April and May.

Baptist DeSoto

More than 300 moms, dads and other caregivers attended Baptist DeSoto’s annual baby fair on May 2. Baptist DeSoto nurses, obstetricians, pediatricians and other health care experts met with families and answered questions about what to expect during pregnancy and delivery.

Families also had the opportunity to tour the Women’s Pavilion and connect with more than 35 area maternity and childhood support vendors.

“We were excited to welcome new and expecting parents to Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto’s annual baby fair,” said Lori Porter, nurse manager of Baptist DeSoto’s Mother-Baby unit. “We have excellent maternity staff members at Baptist DeSoto who are committed to helping moms in our community have a safe and memorable experience, from delivery to recovery. It is truly our honor to support and care for moms and help them navigate one of the most exciting times in their lives.”

Attendees learned about community resources, car seat and seat belt safety, infant CPR, healthy pregnancy tips, early childhood development, and breastfeeding and lactation support services. Parents also enjoyed a photo booth, giveaways and door prizes, such as strollers, high chairs and car seats.
