Baptist Celebrates National Wear Red Day

Baptist Memorial hospitals participated in National Wear Red Day on Friday, Feb. 6. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death for women, but National Wear Red Day, part of American Heart Month, is an opportunity to make a positive difference by sharing information and resources.

Baptist Attala

Baptist Memorial Hospital-Attala joined with Kosy Walks, a local women’s walking club, to host “Walk for Your Heart” at Jason Niles Park. Attendees enjoyed free vital sign checks, including blood pressure, pulse and blood oxygen, conducted by Baptist team members. Baptist Attala is also celebrating American Heart Month with a “Healing Hearts” arch in the front lobby of the hospital, along with heart health flyers and blood pressure screenings on weekday mornings in February.

Baptist Corporate

Baptist Corporate team members wore red clothing, sunglasses and hats and gathered to show their support for women’s cardiovascular health with pom-poms. Participants also contributed to a “Why I Wear Red” board, sharing their reasons for supporting the initiative on heart-shaped paper.

Baptist Golden Triangle

Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle hosted a luncheon for more than 100 women, many of whom wore red. Dr. Lee Roberson, a cardiothoracic surgeon, presented a program on cardiovascular health.

MBMC

Team members at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center wore red and gathered in front of the new Baptist Heart Mobile Cardiovascular Unit to celebrate its opening on National Wear Red Day. The hospital also hosted an educational luncheon featuring Baptist Heart Electrophysiologist Dr. Adam Berman and a painting activity in honor of American Heart Month on Feb. 19
