Baptist Centers for Good Grief – Milla’s House recently moved to its new location inside “The Front Porch” at 4688 Walnut Grove Road in Memphis. “The Front Porch” held its official grand opening on Saturday, Nov. 8 to welcome the community with tours of the event space, meeting room and gardens.

“The Front Porch” also offers a veranda with rocking chairs and Second Helpings Café, which serves breakfast and lunch. Beginning in January, the Front Porch will host free monthly events every second Thursday, featuring live music, entertainment or dynamic speakers.

“We are delighted to continue offering free grief counseling at our new location for Milla’s House and Elle’s Garden,” said Angela Hamblen Kelly, administrator of bereavement services. “Our goal is to offer therapeutic and supportive services to those who have experienced the death of a loved one, including children, teens and adults. We look forward to continuing this important mission.”

Becky Wilson, founder of “The Front Porch,” was the main speaker for the event, and Mearl Purvis served as mistress of ceremonies. Executive Director of “The Front Porch” Melissa Todd, City of Memphis Mayor Paul Young, Owner of Second Helpings Café and Sweet LaLa’s Bakery Lauren Wilson Young and Senior Pastor of Second Baptist Church Stephen Cook also spoke at the grand opening.
