Baptist Honors Breast Cancer Survivors at Pink On & Groove On and 901 POP Bouquet Events

Participant in the Pink On & Groove On costume contest

Baptist Women’s Health Center held its annual Pink On & Groove On event to honor breast cancer survivors on Friday, Oct. 24 at Second Baptist Church in Memphis. Baptist also sponsored the annual Breast Cancer Bouquet Giveaway from 901 Petals Of Purpose (POP) on Sunday, Oct. 19.

Pink On & Groove On

The Pink On & Groove On celebration honored more than 100 breast cancer survivors and promoted breast cancer awareness and prevention. Many of the survivors put their creativity on display as they wore their best pink outfits for a fun costume contest with prizes for originality, creativity and presentation. Attendees also enjoyed line dancing with Keep It Moving Cardio Dancers, music by DJ Ernest Walton, a 360 Photo Booth by “Save Our Youth,” door prizes and light refreshments by Ms. D’s Wing’s and Ronnie’s Catering.

Staff and nurses joined the festivities to support survivors.

“We are so honored to celebrate breast cancer survivors for their strength and courage,” said Jennifer Coleman, outreach and event coordinator for Baptist Women’s Health Center. “As a three-time breast cancer survivor, I look forward to this event each year when I get to enjoy the camaraderie, sisterhood and bond that I share with these women.”

Sponsors of the event included Gilead Oncology and Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation’s Think Pink Memphis. Alpha Alpha Zeta Omega and Alpha Alpha Gamma Omega Chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Chi Eta Phi Nursing Sorority, Mary Kay, A Fitting Place and Divine 5 Ministries also supported the event.

Breast Cancer Bouquet Giveaway From 901 POP

Prior to its annual Breast Cancer Bouquet Giveaway, 901 POP gave 25 bouquets to breast cancer survivors who were treated at Baptist Women’s Health Center. The bouquets were presented in the Women’s Health Center Resource Room on Tuesday, Oct. 7.

Baptist’s sponsorship of the Breast Cancer Bouquet Giveaway, held on Oct. 19, helped make it possible for other area breast cancer survivors to enjoy bouquets, which were picked up during the event in Memphis.

901 POP serves the Memphis area, repurposing fresh flowers from events and distributing them to those who may need encouragement. A handwritten note of inspiration was given with each bouquet.
