Baptist Foundation Funds Participation in Lab Management Program

Angel Smith, a senior laboratory technologist with the Blood Bank at Baptist Memphis, is the first team member to complete the LMU program with Baptist Foundation’s assistance.

Baptist Memorial Health Care Foundation recently began funding Baptist Memorial Heath Care team members’ participation in the American Society of Clinical Pathology’s Laboratory Management University (LMU) Fundamentals Program. The foundation is funding a total of 50 Baptist Memorial Health Care team members for the 25-course self-paced certificate program.

“We pursued this opportunity to fund LMU participants because we recognized the importance of investing in the development of our Laboratory professionals, building leadership capacity, strengthening operational expertise and preparing future leaders who will help advance the quality and effectiveness of Laboratory services throughout Baptist Memorial,” said James Bolden, system Laboratory lead director.

LMU is a nationally recognized professional development program designed to strengthen leadership, management and operational skills for laboratory professionals. Completing the program requires a significant commitment to professional growth.

Angel Smith, a senior laboratory technologist with the Blood Bank at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis, is the first team member to complete the program with Baptist Foundation’s assistance.

“This achievement reflects Angel’s dedication to professional development, commitment to excellence and passion for advancing laboratory medicine,” Bolden said. “This success not only represents a significant personal milestone but also serves as an inspiration to others who may pursue similar educational opportunities.”
