West Memphis, Arkansas, is launching a new on-demand public transportation service — WM Connect. Peyton Warrington, interim CEO and administrator of Baptist Memorial Hospital-Crittenden, represented Baptist Memorial on stage during the official announcement and preview of the service at the Mayor Joyce Ferguson Civic Center on Aug. 4.
The new service, which will be available in October 2026, allows riders to request door-to-door transportation within the West Memphis service area through an app for just $2 per ride. Riders may use the service for free throughout October 2026.
“We’re celebrating the return of public transportation to West Memphis, Arkansas, and we anticipate WM Connect will be a great service for those seeking health care,” said Warrington. “Having reliable transportation will mean West Memphians may have improved access to preventive care and be less likely to miss medical appointments.”
WM Connect will also help support healthier lifestyles by making it easier for residents to reach pharmacies and wellness resources.
“West Memphis has been without public transportation for eight years. The introduction of WM Connect to this area is a milestone,” said Danielle Lowe, quality and risk manager for Baptist Crittenden. “The service is a wonderful step toward improving quality of life for residents and will help reconnect them to jobs, education, grocery stores and essential health care services.”
Other Baptist Memorial team members who attended the announcement event along with Lowe and Warrington include Jennifer Burch, accountant; Mary Freeman, director of government relations; Cynthia Bradford, system community involvement manager; Ann Marie Wallace Peoples, system senior community involvement and special events coordinator; Tiana Poirier-Shelton, community outreach coordinator; and Ashlyn Gorman, intern.
