OB-GYN Residents at Baptist Women’s Hospital Recognized for Going the Extra Mile

Baptist Memorial Hospital for Women hosted the first annual OB-GYN Residency Program Awards Ceremony on Thursday, June 29, to honor residents for their year of challenging work participating in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program, directed by Dr. Frank Ling. It was a great evening supported by hospital leaders, physicians, mentors and faculty members, who recognized and celebrated collaboration.

Faculty members or mentors from each rotation presented Going the Extra Mile (GEM) Awards to residents for patient experience and quality service. The following residents were honored with GEM Awards:

  • Dr. Alyssa Goebel – GEM Award Labor and Delivery at Baptist Women’s Hospital
  • Dr. Robert Heusner – GEM Award Labor and Delivery at Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto
  • Dr. Hannah Holt – GEM Award Mentorship
  • Dr. Erin Baldwin – GEM Award Gynecologic Oncology (GYNONC)
  • Dr. Rufus Samuel – GEM Award Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) and GEM Award Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM)
  • Dr. Anna Halford – GEM Award URO-Gynecology (UROGYN)

Dr. Todd Chappell presented the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL) Dr. Franklin D. Loffer Exceptional Resident Award to Dr. Rufus Samuel in recognition of excellence in minimally invasive gynecology.

Mentors Honored for Their Commitment

Residents recognized their favorite mentors and faculty members for their commitment to teaching with Golden Speculum Awards. Mentors and faculty members receiving the award were nominated by residents for their commitment to providing strong opportunities for learning and patient experiences. Dr. Alyssa Goebel presented the Golden Speculum Awards.

Dr. Alyssa Goebel presented the Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology (CREOG) National Faculty Award for Excellence in Resident Education.
