Michael Ellis, pastor of Impact Baptist Church, will be the featured speaker for the Rev. Jimmy Terry Preaching Series on Thursday, Jan. 15 at noon in Garrett Auditorium. The auditorium is located at 6027 Walnut Grove Road on Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis’ campus. This will be Pastor Ellis’ third time to speak for the series.
Pastor Ellis serves on the board of trustees for Baptist Memorial Health Care and as the Shelby County Veterans Services Officer. He retired from the Navy in 2000 and began his second career in the ministry. He was the first Black president of the Tennessee Southern Baptist Convention.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in theology from Union Theological Seminary and a Master of Arts in theology and a Doctor of Theology from Golden Grain Bible College and School of Ministry. He also holds a Doctor of Religious Philosophy in Christian counseling from Jacksonville Theological Seminary.
Pastor Ellis and his wife, Angela, share six children and 10 grandchildren.
