Baptist Tipton Adds Saturday PET Imaging Service

Baptist Memorial Hospital-Tipton now offers outpatient PET (positron emission tomography) imaging services in a mobile unit at the hospital on Saturdays, offering greater convenience and flexibility to patients across Tipton County and surrounding communities.

Baptist Tipton started the new service on April 4, marking a significant step forward in local access to advanced diagnostic care. Saturday appointments will help reduce patient wait times, accommodate working patients and caregivers, and support earlier diagnosis, which can lead to better treatment outcomes.

PET scans provide critical insights into organ and tissue function. They are especially valuable in oncology for detecting and monitoring cancer, in cardiology for measuring blood flow and oxygen use in the heart and in neurology for evaluating brain abnormalities, assessing seizure disorders and detecting memory disorders.

Baptist Tipton is currently offering six slots for PET scans every Saturday. In the future, the hospital plans to expand capacity to 12 slots every Saturday.
