On Nov. 29, Baptist Home Care and Hospice brought National Home Care and Hospice Month to a close by honoring teams with the annual Heart of Home Care and Hospice Awards. During this special event, team members are nominated by their peers and managers for going above and beyond and showing their care and compassion every day with every patient.
More than a dozen people were nominated with special stories about home care and hospice. Staff members were nominated for helping patients celebrate anniversaries, spending their own money to help a patient get medication so they didn’t have to go back to the hospital, or helping patients set up the right level of care. Winners include:

- Trinity Hospice: Stacy Ellington
- North Mississippi Home Care: Mindy Harwell
- North Mississippi Hospice: Liz Downs
During National Home Care and Hospice Month, Baptist teams also educate the community, doctors’ offices and Baptist hospitals about the history of home health and hospice. Home care and hospice is a special way to care for patients and keep them where they want to be–at home.
