Baptist Honors Service First Champions

Baptist Memorial Health Care team members recently recognized their colleagues as Service First Champions. Keep reading to find out more about their outstanding service, and contact your manager for details on how to nominate someone.

Baptist Memorial Hospital-Leake

Halli Caldwell, registered nurse in Medical-Surgical, was nominated for Service First Champion for her dedication and willingness to go the extra mile, including filling in shifts in the Emergency department. “Halli is always ready and willing to help in any way needed. A patient’s family member did not receive a family tray one day, and Halli, without hesitating, took her lunch break to purchase a lunch from the cafeteria for the family member,” said the nominator.

Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle

A colleague nominated Pamela Morris for consistently exceeding expectationsA certified pharmacy technician and certified nursing assistant, Morris was recognized for her dedication to patient care and the outstanding support she offers to her coworkers. “Pam’s willingness to fill critical staffing gaps has had a direct impact on our ability to provide uninterrupted high-quality care. Despite the physical and mental demands of night shifts and extended hours, she always brings a positive attitude and strong work ethic,” said the nominator.

Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City

Baylee Larson, patient care assistant in the Emergency department, became a Service First Champion for her dedication and compassion. Larson went above and beyond when she assisted a patient outside of her department who had come in for pre-op labs and needed assistance after a mishap with colonoscopy prep. “Baylee was professional, and she ensured the patient was not uncomfortable due to the situation,” said the nominator.

Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County                      

Rachel Hayes and Emily Hutchins were selected as Service First Champions for going above and beyond to assist their team members during a busy workload. Nominated by hospital managers, both Hayes and Hutchins are housekeepers. The manager who nominated Hayes shared how she checked on patients and visitors in the waiting room during a busy night in the Emergency department. “Rachel consistently displays a positive, endearing attitude and is beyond helpful in critical times,” said the nominator. Hutchins, who often takes on extra shifts to meet the needs of patients, was nominated by an Infection Prevention manager for her willingness to deep clean an area that had been under construction. The nominator said, “Emily’s attitude and professionalism rank at the top.”

Mississippi Baptist Medical Center

Rehab Office Coordinator Crystale Walker became a Service First Champion after a colleague nominated her for assisting a man who experienced a stroke in the elevator after dropping his wife off for treatment. Walker helped to ensure the man received quick treatment in the Emergency department. The nominator said, “Without her attention and help, he would have gone longer without assistance, and every second counts with a stroke.” The nominator also mentioned that Walker is known for assisting others in need by providing directions or help with finding wheelchairs when needed.
