Baptist Celebrates Service First Champions

Baptist Anderson Regional Medical Center, Baptist Memorial Hospital-Attala, Baptist Memorial Hospital-Booneville, Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto and Baptist Corporate Office recently honored team members for providing outstanding service. Baptist Anderson

Goldia Deloach’s colleagues nominated her for consistently going above and beyond. A medical assistant in Employee Health Services, her colleagues commented, “Her kindness, dedication and positive attitude help make our department a joyful and pleasant place to work.” They praised Deloach for having “the best phone etiquette” and mentioned a recent example of her helping a new hire retrieve past vaccination records from another state so she didn’t have to get new bloodwork, as she has a fear of needles.

Baptist Attala

Shelby Steele, registered nurse in the Infusion Center, was nominated for Service First Champion for going above and beyond in delivering compassionate, patient-centered care. “Shelby always tries to make our patients’ visits as easy on them and their family members as possible. She even comes in on weekends when her patients need blood transfusions or other medications,” said the nominator. Steele was also praised for helping to ensure patients who are too weak to walk to the Infusion Center have access to wheelchairs at their cars.

Baptist Booneville

Judy Nichols, an Environmental Services team member, became a Service First Champion for her dedication to patients and Baptist. “I have witnessed Judy’s devotion to this hospital and our patients. She will consistently go the distance and take extra time to perform her job,” said the nominator, who also praised Nichols for her compassion. “I have observed her take the time to search for and recover patient’s belongings, even staying over when her shift has ended. This is a true mark of compassion and devotion to others.”

Baptist DeSoto

Cindy Hunter, a social worker in Case Management, was selected as a Service First Champion for her compassion and spirit of advocacy. “Cindy is not just an advocate; she is a champion for her patients, willing to fight for their needs and ensure they transition to the next level of care with dignity and love,” said the nominator. “A shining example of her dedication occurred when she encountered an elderly patient who needed placement. Her two beloved dogs were her sole companions, and the thought of parting with them was heartbreaking. Cindy stepped in and offered to foster the dogs, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to her patient’s well-being.”

Corporate Office

Patty Moore, specialist in Denial Mitigation, won Service First Champion recognition for her consistent support of fellow team members. “She is always willing to answer questions and help with complex cases. She never delays her follow up or is too busy to help,” said the nominator. “Her willingness to share her knowledge and support all team members is evident.”
