The American College of Cardiology has awarded Mississippi Baptist Medical Center the Electrophysiology Accreditation for its demonstrated expertise and commitment to treating patients.
“Being recognized by the American College of Cardiology is a significant honor and showcases our team’s commitment to quality improvement for heart patients,” said Bobbie Ware, CEO and administrator of Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. “I am proud of our team and their commitment to patient education and outcomes.”
MBMC is the only facility in Central Mississippi to receive the Electrophysiology Accreditation. This accreditation recognizes electrophysiology labs that use treatments, such as cardiac ablation, and implantable devices, such as pacemakers and cardioverter defibrillators, for patients with irregular heartbeat.
Electrophysiology Accreditation is based on rigorous on-site evaluation of a staff’s ability to evaluate, diagnose and treat patients. It also involves implementing improved methods and strategies of caring for patients, such as streamlining processes, implementing guidelines and standards, and adopting best practices in the precise care of EP lab patients.

MBMC has received four accreditations from the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission for cardiac, vascular and calcium scoring computed tomography (CT) scans, cardiac nuclear/PET scans, non-invasive vascular sonography and echocardiography. Other accreditations include the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation accreditation for outpatient cardiac rehabilitation and the American College of Cardiology accreditations for electrophysiology, Chest Pain Centers and transcatheter valves.
