Baptist Medical Group breast surgeon Lindi VanderWalde, M.D., will address the confusion surrounding screening mammography, including who should get a screening mammogram and how often. She will also explain the difference between screening and diagnostic mammograms. Dr. Vanderwalde will review the new imaging technologies available at Baptist Women’s Health Center, including 3-D mammography and automated breast ultrasound, a special type of screening used to better detect potential cancers in the 40 percent of women who have dense breast tissue.
Dr. VanderWalde is a board-certified and fellowship-trained breast surgeon. She attended medical school at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. After completing general surgery training at Kaiser Permanente in Los Angeles, she concluded a fellowship in breast oncology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. She joined Baptist Medical Group in 2013, exclusively caring for patients with breast diseases.
