October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and represents an ideal time for women to get more educated about breast cancer, particularly about their own risks for developing the disease.
The featured speaker, Marcia Kirby, has more than 20 years of experience as a nurse practitioner specializing in women’s health. She is dedicated to educating and providing care for women who have breast cancer, are at a higher risk of developing breast cancer or who have benign (non-cancerous) breast conditions.
Marcia will discuss factors that influence a woman’s breast cancer risk, a small portion of which is family history. She will identify risk factors and myths surrounding risk factors, as well as discussing lifestyle factors that can decrease the risk of developing breast cancer.
