The 11th annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes takes off from the Ramesses II statue at the University of Memphis, 3745 Central Avenue, at 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22.
Men and boys will walk in women’s shoes (or their own) and join women and girls in a one-mile circle to show support for ending violence against women. Men may borrow women’s shoes on-site. Participants may also choose a sign that expresses their concern for women and girls.
Registration opens at 5 p.m. on Sept. 22 near the Ramesses II statue. You can pre-register at Eventbrite.com. The event fee is $15 or $10 for students. There is no fee for University of Memphis students with an ID.
The 2022 Walk is organized by the Memphis Area Women’s Council, the University of Memphis Sexual Assault Prevention and Awareness Coalition and Title IX Prevention Center in partnership with Memphis Says NO MORE, the Memphis Sexual Assault Kit Task Force and Splash Creative.
