Baptist Management System hosted team members, leaders and guests on Oct. 4 at Baptist Memphis for the second annual Training Within Industry (TWI) Summit. During the two-day summit, participants shared real-world stories about KATA projects and TWI.
Approximately 100 people attended, including visitors from Intermountain Healthcare, a Utah-based, not-for-profit health system comprising 22 hospitals.
“They contacted us because they heard about the TWI work being done at Baptist and wanted to learn how we’re achieving success,” said Skip Steward, chief improvement officer. Baptist has gained national attention and is recognized as a leader in TWI for health care.
During the summit, discussion centered on TWI-Job Relations, which four hospitals have been implementing, and TWI-Job Instructions. “There were some great ‘aha’ moments around validation processes and using KATA to help deploy Job Instructions efforts,” said Skip.
The third annual TWI Summit will be held at NEA Baptist in October 2018.
