‘Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much’- Helen Keller

We are ending our special COVID-19 Employee Assistance Fund today, and this quote sums up its success perfectly. Since we began the fund less than three months ago, we distributed more than $1.1 million in assistance to almost 3,000 team members facing financial hardship because of the pandemic.

It is so inspiring to see what we can do when we come together as a team to help one another. Our Baptist Memorial Health Care Foundation recognized a need to assist team members financially affected by COVID-19. And before the fund even began taking donations, some of you started asking about contributing. Team members held fundraisers. Some of our senior leaders even volunteered for an ice bucket challenge to raise money. It has been a bright light during a tough time for our communities and our country.

Your generosity never ceases to amaze me, and your kindness is inspirational. Thank you for embodying the true spirit of teamwork. And thank you to the Baptist Foundation for quickly setting up the COVID-19 Employee Assistance Fund, managing it and raising money for it. Together, you’ve done so much to take care of our own in such a meaningful way.

The COVID-19 Employee Assistance Fund may be ending, but the Baptist Foundation still has an Employee Emergency Assistance Fund to help team members facing sudden financial hardship. You can contribute to the fund, or, if you need assistance, contact your entity’s pastoral care department or the system pastoral care team at 901-226-5025 or pastoralcare@bmhcc.org.
