Volunteer Memphis recognized Asia Jackson, financial counseling and patient assistance manager with Baptist Medical Group-Central Business Office, with its 2024 Healthcare Humanitarian of the Year Award during the seventh annual Volunteer Memphis Awards on Thursday, June 13. The awards program, held at Memphis Botanic Garden, honors the Mid-South’s outstanding volunteers, nonprofits, corporations and health care workers.
“I am honored to be recognized by Volunteer Memphis,” said Asia. “Thankfully, I am able to work for an organization with a mission, vision and values that support my work and volunteer efforts to be a catalyst for change. I have been in health care for more than 10 years and my love for people, especially our patients at Baptist, grows larger with every life that I touch in any capacity.”
Asia has participated in many volunteer efforts in Memphis. Working with Manhood University, a City of Memphis re-entry program, Asia assisted with fitting men for suits to help them find jobs. Participating in food drives for the Mid-South Food Bank, packing meal boxes for the elderly at Neighborhood Christian Center Inc. and working checkpoints at the St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend are a few of the other volunteer opportunities Asia has pursued.
