The Spence and Becky Wilson Baptist Children’s Hospital hosted its annual Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Reunion on Saturday, Sept. 14 during NICU Awareness Month. The event, funded by Baptist Memorial Health Care Foundation, celebrated NICU graduates, babies who spent time in the NICU and transitioned to pediatric primary care.
The reunion, themed “NICU Graduates Are Out of This World,” provided an opportunity for families to reconnect with the physicians and nurses who cared for their infants. More than 1,000 people registered to attend.
“We were excited to welcome back our NICU graduates and their families,” said Allison Bosse, CEO and administrator of Baptist Memorial Hospital for Women and Baptist Children’s Hospital. “This reunion was a testament to the resilience of these children and the dedication and commitment of our NICU nurses and providers. It was a happy occasion for everyone involved.”
The space-themed reunion raised almost $5,300 to support families in the NICU. Kids enjoyed face painting, 901goats from Walkapony Goat Ranch, bounce houses and visits with P.D. Parrot.
