In April 2023, two volunteer teams of Baptist Health Sciences University students, faculty and alumni will embark on a medical mission trip to Pucallpa, Peru to improve the health, wellness and quality of life of those most in need in this region, which has very few health care options for villagers. For this mission, BHSU is joining with The Liquid Legacy, a ministry with a rich history in Peru. Crosslink Memphis will support the mission with medicine and supplies. You can also support this important medical mission trip with a donation to help cover expenses like airfare, ground transportation and lodging.
Approximately 50 BHSU volunteers, divided into two teams, will serve one week each in the city of Pucallpa. BHSU teams will set up health clinics in and around the city each day to help the indigenous Peruvians gain access to basic health services. They will also host clinics at a school for children with disabilities, providing basic medical care for students, staff and their families.
The expense for this trip is $2,600 per person. Your support will help reduce the cost needed to participate in this invaluable clinical and spiritual experience.
Please donate by March 17 by scanning the QR code in this article, or by visiting the donation page for the mission trip at Just Giving.
If you’ll be in the Memphis area, you may also support the mission trip by dining at Belly Acres in Overton Square at 2102 Trimble Place from 4–8 p.m. on Give Back Nights – Feb. 8 and Feb. 22. Mention the BHSU medical mission trip, and Belly Acres Overton Square will donate 15% of the sale to the trip.
