SHE Leads the Way Virtual Event to Inspire Interest in STEM Careers and Bring Together Community Leaders

SHE (Science, Health, Empowerment) Leads the Way, a new event from Baptist Memorial Health Care, is designed to introduce young women to the world of science and health care through empowerment.

SHE Leads the Way will take place on Friday, September 24. The virtual event is sponsored and hosted by Baptist with help from cityCURRENT – a team of partner companies promoting initiatives that positively affect communities.

Advance registration is required for the free event, which will take place in two sessions. Both sessions will feature Nina Tandon, CEO and co-founder of EpiBone, the world’s first company to grow living human bones for skeletal reconstruction.

First Session – Science of Growing a Business

During the first session, Tandon will discuss the “Science of Growing a Business” with lessons from her exciting entrepreneurial journey from doctorate student to CEO. Her talk will focus on the importance of community engagement and team building, and how to spark a culture of innovation and systematic creativity. The session will bring together business and community leaders focused on making a difference in the Mid-South and beyond.

Second Session – Inspiring Students to Pursue STEM Careers

While schools are invited to attend both sessions, the second session is more tailored for middle schoolers, high schoolers and college-aged women to inspire them to pursue careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) fields. Tandon will give a presentation, followed by a Q&A session.
