Rev. Tommy Vinson will be the featured speaker for the Rev. Jimmy Terry Preaching Series on Thursday, Feb. 20 at noon in Garrett Auditorium. The auditorium is located at 6027 Walnut Grove Road on Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis’ campus. This is Rev. Vinson’s second time to participate in the series.
This year marks 58 years of preaching for Rev. Vinson who has pastored churches in Mississippi, Tennessee and Florida, including First Baptist Church of Winter Park, Florida, and First Baptist Church in Collierville. In 2013, Rev. Vinson began focusing on an itinerant ministry of teaching, preaching and supporting mission work.
Rev. Vinson graduated from the U.S. Air Force Air Traffic Control Academy and Blue Mountain Christian University. He attended Luther Rice College and Seminary and earned a Doctor of Divinity degree from Florida Bible College of Tampa in 1987.
He formerly served on the executive committee of the Southern Baptist Convention and as president of the Florida Baptist Pastor’s Conference. He and his wife Rose share three children and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
