Pastor James Morgan Jr. is the featured speaker for the Rev. Jimmy Terry Preaching Series event on Thursday, April 21 at noon at Garrett Auditorium on the Baptist Memphis campus.
He has served as pastor of New Mt. Zion Baptist Church in West Memphis, Arkansas, for 33 years and has been preaching for 40 years. Pastor Morgan accepted his call to the ministry in 1982 and became ordained the following year. He received his bachelor’s degree in leadership from Faith Seminary in Tacoma, Washington. He has two children and one grandson.
Pastor Morgan is a member of the Memphis Baptist Ministerial Association. He is a volunteer chaplain for Baptist Crittenden and has a prison ministry at the Crittenden County Detention Center. Pastor Morgan and New Mt. Zion Baptist Church adopted Weaver Elementary School in West Memphis.
