Baptist nurses are always appreciated for their hard work and dedication. During National Nurses Week from May 6 through May 12, Baptist Memorial hospitals gave some extra recognition to their nurses with special events and awards.
Baptist DeSoto
Baptist DeSoto held a Vacation Theme Frame contest. Team members from the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) took first place in the contest, while a group from ICU won second and team members from ER came in third. Check out the fun images above!
Beverly Jordan, retired Baptist Memorial Health Care nursing leader, spoke to the hospital’s nursing leaders on leadership and leading through difficult times. The hospital also presented its Nurse Excellence Awards.
Baptist Golden Triangle
All team members were invited to the hospital’s annual National Nurses Week Carnival on Thursday, May 4, held in front of the 5th Street Building. The event featured sno-cones, popcorn, a photo booth, games and a dunk booth. Earlier in the day, the hospital presented the nursing staff with a special gift collection of bath and skin products. Thanks to donations from Volunteer Services, non-nursing staff also received the gift.
Mississippi Baptist Medical Center
Mississippi Baptist Medical Center presented Jessica Davis, RN, with the Nurse of the Year award at a ceremony in the Atrium. Jessica is a nurse on 5 South and has been with Baptist since starting as a student nurse.
Baptist Memphis
Baptist Memphis celebrated with a “Nurses Week Cruise” and presented its Nurse Excellence Awards. The celebrations started with a “Sail Away Dance Party,” followed by a special Chips Ahoy snack delivery, “Rock N’ Glow” party and beach volleyball! Team members also enjoyed a scavenger hunt and “Captains Awards” dinner. Nurses Week celebrations ended with a beach party.

Baptist Women’s Hospital and Baptist Children’s Hospital
Baptist Women’s Hospital and Baptist Children’s Hospital held several activities to honor nurses, including ice cream sundaes, a waffle breakfast, Candy Land games and prizes, May the 4th Be with You Star Wars virtual games and prizes, and Last Splash Beach celebration with Italian ice. They also honored retired CNO Carol Thetford with a DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award.
Corporate
Corporate celebrated nursing “stars” with red-carpet experiences, including a popcorn party on the back patio, a Walk of Fame on the sidewalk and a red-carpet “Oscar” party with cake and ice cream.
