Multiple Baptist Hospitals Receive Recognition from U.S. News & World Report

Two Baptist hospitals were honored with Best Regional Hospital designation and received a high state ranking, while five hospitals earned High Performing Hospital recognition for 2021-22 by U.S. News & World Report.

Baptist Memphis was named Best Regional Hospital in the Memphis metro area and ranked second in Tennessee. The hospital earned 11 High Performing ratings for the following common procedures and conditions:

  • Congestive Heart Failure
  • Colon Cancer Surgery
  • COPD
  • Diabetes
  • Heart Attack
  • Hip Replacement
  • Kidney Failure
  • Knee Replacement
  • Lung Cancer Surgery
  • Pneumonia
  • Stroke

Mississippi Baptist Medical Center (MBMC) was honored with Best Regional Hospital in the Jackson metro area and ranked first in Mississippi. MBMC earned nine High Performing ratings for common procedures and conditions, including the following:

  • Congestive Heart Failure
  • Colon Cancer Surgery
  • COPD
  • Diabetes
  • Heart Attack
  • Hip Replacement
  • Kidney Failure
  • Knee Replacement
  • Lung Cancer Surgery

Baptist DeSoto was honored with five High Performing ratings for common procedures and conditions. These include:

  • Congestive Heart Failure
  • COPD
  • Diabetes
  • Heart Attack
  • Kidney Failure

NEA Baptist was honored with four High Performing ratings for common procedures and conditions, including the following:

  • Congestive Heart Failure
  • Heart Attack
  • Kidney Failure
  • Lung Cancer Surgery

Baptist Union County earned a High Performing rating for Hip Fracture.

For the Best Hospital honors and High Performing ratings, U.S. News evaluated more than 4,750 medical centers nationwide in 15 specialties and 17 procedures and conditions. Fewer than a third of all hospitals received a High Performing rating.

“Hospitals faced incredible challenges this past year, and the best of them have provided great care throughout the pandemic and continue to offer excellent care today,” said Ben Harder, managing editor and chief of health analysis at U.S. News.
