MEGA Colon Events Promote Awareness About Colorectal Cancer

In honor of National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month in March, Baptist Cancer Center joined with the American Cancer Society to present MEGA Colon in the main lobby at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center on Thursday, March 7. In Memphis, Dr. Raymond Staniunas with Baptist Medical Group-Oncology Surgical Specialists provided education at Baptist Cancer Center’s new MEGA Colon at The Links, Inc., Black Family Wellness EXPO at First Baptist Church Broad on Saturday, March 16.

A walk-through, interactive educational experience, MEGA Colon allows visitors to learn how to improve overall colon health and reduce risks for colorectal cancer. The large-scale model of the human colon shows polyps in the initial stages, advanced polyps, colorectal cancer and Crohn’s disease.

Around 75 attendees participated in the MEGA Colon event at MBMC.

The Links, Inc., Black Family Wellness EXPO was hosted by Leadership Memphis and had more than 400 attendees.
