Mississippi Baptist Medical Center and Baptist Heart celebrated American Heart Month with several educational activities and a “Your Heart Matters” banner, which traveled throughout MBMC and all three Baptist Heart locations. Patients and community members could sign the banner as a heart survivor or in honor or memory of someone with heart disease. The signed banner was placed in the main lobby of MBMC for viewing this week.
MBMC and Baptist Heart helped to educate community members on heart disease during American Heart Month. Lynne Currie, DNP, FNP-BC, with Baptist Heart spoke to a group of 35 business leaders at the North Jackson Rotary Club on Tuesday, Jan. 31. She shared heart disease risk factors and education for improving overall health through lifestyle changes.
On Friday, Feb. 3, television station WAPT in Jackson, Mississippi, interviewed Baptist cardiologist Dr. James L. Warnock Jr. on behalf of the American Heart Association. MBMC also kicked off Wear Red and American Heart Month education in the main lobby.
On Monday, Feb. 6, Jennifer Rhea, NP-BC, with Baptist Heart spoke to a group of about 30 gathered at Brandon First United Methodist Church. She shared heart disease risk factors and ways to improve overall health with lifestyle changes.
Rhea also spoke to a group of around 50 people at the Senior Ambassador Valentine Banquet at Baptist Leake on Tuesday, Feb. 14.
On Tuesday, Feb. 21, Currie spoke at the “Your Heart Matters” community event, attended by around 35 people who participated in a painting session with local business Stompin’ Grounds.
