Keighly Nanney, registered nurse in Labor and Delivery, was nominated for the DAISY Award by one of her patients. The nominator said Keighly went above and beyond as her nurse on multiple occasions when she was pregnant with twins, including during delivery. She said, “Keighly was so calm and wiped my tears when I was in a tough situation.” She also commended Keighly for staying after her shift to ensure her twins were doing well.

Sadie Martin, registered nurse and coordinator of clinical services in Enterostomal Therapy, was honored with the DAISY Award for her compassion toward a patient with advanced Alzheimer’s disease. A colleague consulted with Sadie on a patient’s pressure injuries.
This colleague, who nominated Sadie for the DAISY Award, said her patient had become restless and was removing the dressings on her wounds and IV access points. The nominator said, “I was so desperate to distract her, I wrapped a bottle of shampoo in gauze for her to pick at. This was a temporary fix. When I came in, I fully expected the patient to have removed all her dressings, but instead she was holding a pink and blue stuffed sloth.” The nominator praised Sadie for giving the patient the well-received sloth, which the patient named “Baby.”
