Several leaders in Tennessee government gathered on Thursday, March 28, in Nashville for the second annual Women’s History Maker Program and Reception, held by the Tennessee Senate Democratic Caucus. The event recognized Mary Freeman, director of government relations for Baptist, and other outstanding female leaders in the state.

“Receiving this recognition is truly special,” said Mary. “To be included and honored with other modern-day trailblazers whom I have the opportunity to work with now at Baptist and in the past during my tenure with the Tennessee General Assembly makes this a full circle moment.”

The caucus honored Mary with a resolution in the Senate chamber during the floor session, followed by a reception.

Some of the attendees and other recipients included Senate Democratic Caucus Chair London Lamar, Senate Democratic Minority Leader Raumesh Akbari, Memphis State Sen. Sara Kyle, Nashville State Sen. Heidi Campbell, Nashville State Sen. Charlane Oliver, Chair of the Shelby County Board of Commissioners Miska Clay Bibbs, Chair of the Shelby County Board of Education Althea Greene, Memphis Shelby County Schools Board Commissioner Michelle Robinson McKissack and Memphis City Councilwoman Yolanda Cooper-Sutton. Sen. Akbari nominated Mary for the honor.
