Leapfrog awarded “A” grades to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Carroll County for the fifth time and Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City for the fourth time in a row. Baptist North Mississippi also earned an “A.”

Leapfrog assigns letter grades from A to F to general hospitals nationwide based on more than 30 measures of patient safety. The group updates grades twice a year — in the spring and fall.

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only ratings program for hospitals that’s based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and harm to patients. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.

Healthgrades Names Baptist North Mississippi One of America’s Best 250 Hospitals

The Healthgrades recognition as one of America’s Best 250 Hospitals for 2025 places Baptist North Mississippi among the top 5% of hospitals in the country for clinical excellence. Baptist North Mississippi is the only hospital in Mississippi to receive the honor.

“This recognition highlights the hard work and dedication of our entire team,” said Brian Welton, CEO and administrator of Baptist North Mississippi. “Our physicians, nurses and staff consistently strive to provide the highest level of care, and we are honored to be recognized among the nation’s best.”

Healthgrades is the No. 1 site Americans use when searching for a doctor or hospital. For the recognition, Healthgrades evaluated approximately 4,500 hospitals on 31 conditions and procedures, such as heart attack and total knee replacement, for the most recent three-year period. Hospitals could not opt in or out or submit their own data. According to the organization, if all hospitals performed at the level of America’s 250 Best Hospitals, approximately 174,081 lives could be saved each year.

Healthgrades has been helping people evaluate and compare hospital performance to make more informed choices since 1998. Healthgrades’ analysis doesn’t consider the reputation of an institution or financial information. Instead, Healthgrades uses scientific and transparent methodology focused on clinical outcomes.
