James Morgan Jr., pastor of New Mount Zion Baptist Church of West Memphis and volunteer chaplain with Baptist Memorial Hospital-Crittenden, will be the featured speaker for the Rev. Jimmy Terry Preaching Series on Thursday, Jan. 16 at noon in Garrett Auditorium. The auditorium is located at 6027 Walnut Grove Road on Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis’ campus. This is Pastor Morgan’s second time to participate in the series.
Pastor Morgan has a bachelor’s in leadership from Faith International University & Seminary in Tacoma, Washington. He has been preaching since 1982 and has led New Mount Zion Baptist Church of West Memphis since 1989. Under his leadership, the congregation has grown from 75 to more than 500 members.
Pastor Morgan is a singer, serves as a jail minister, teaches at national conferences and is an active member of the Memphis Baptist Ministerial Association. He has also served on the National Baptist Convention USA Inc.’s Late Night Service staff.
He is married to Andrea Morgan. They have five children and three grandsons.
