In Loving Memory: Christina Davis and Brownie Luckett

Rev. Heath Ferguson, director of pastoral care and faith relations at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center, shared these memories of Christina Davis and Brownie Luckett, the two team members who lost their lives on Wednesday, Feb. 19.

Christina Davis, health unit coordinator

Christina Davis

She was a joy to be around, and she was so alert. I told her that you could never sneak up on her. I never had to use my badge to open the door to her unit because she always knew I was coming, and she would let me in.

Everyone loved to be around her. If you prayed for a sweet daughter, niece, etc., she would have been an answer to your prayers. She loved her children, family and co-workers. And she was a hard worker. She worked her way up to being someone people relied on.

Brownie Luckett

Brownie loved to talk sports, joke, and cut up with his co-workers. He and Bobbie (Ware, CEO and administrator of Mississippi Baptist Medical Center) used to joke about who would buy the other coffee in the morning.

There was an affection and tenderness about him. And he was vigilant. He was always on the lookout for us, until the end of his life. You felt comfortable and safe when he was in the room.

Somehow everyone in the hospital knew both Brownie and Christina. One of the worst things about Wednesday was seeing the pain on everyone’s faces because everyone knew and loved them.
