For 15 years, Baptist Operation Outreach Tree of Faith, Hope & Love has helped the Mid-South’s homeless population during the holiday season with a winter weather holiday drive. The donation drive is a joint program between Baptist and Christ Community Health Services, which operate Baptist Operation Outreach, a free health care clinic for those without permanent housing.
Baptist team members can support Baptist Operation Outreach’s efforts by making a monetary donation, a one-time payroll gift or a PTO donation to help purchase items for 300 backpacks. The backpacks will be distributed to homeless patients who will enjoy a warm lunch at the Tree of Faith, Hope & Love holiday event on Friday, Dec. 13 at Memphis First United Methodist Church.
Unisex thermals, socks, scarves, hats and gloves are a few of the items that will be included in the backpacks to help comfort homeless individuals this winter. Baptist Operation Outreach also assists homeless patients throughout the year, providing free health care for approximately 2,869 patient visits annually.
For 20 years, Baptist Operation Outreach has provided acute and primary care, mental health care and disease prevention guidance to Memphians without permanent housing. Baptist Operation Outreach also provides free medication, transportation to and from medical appointments and access to vision and dental care.
