Mississippi Baptist Medical Center hosted its 8th annual Hearts & Clubs fundraiser on Monday, April 15, at The Country Club of Jackson. The event raised more than $57,000 to help fund the Baptist Heart Mobile Cardiovascular Unit, launching in 2025. The mobile unit will provide cardiac risk screening services in underserved areas across Central Mississippi.
“Having the Mobile Cardiovascular Unit will enhance our efforts to treat our communities and not only save lives, but meet strategic goals as well,” said Terri Diffy, MSN, RN, director of the cardiac service line at MBMC.
More than 130 golfers and volunteers attended the event. Baptist Heart team members welcomed participants by providing blood pressure checks, sharing information on Baptist Heart screenings and answering questions about the Mobile Cardiovascular Unit.
“Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in Mississippi, and one way Baptist Heart is working to combat this is by increasing access to potentially lifesaving heart disease risk screenings,” said Ryan Mains, senior development officer for Baptist Health Foundation. “The Mobile Cardiovascular Unit will take screenings to communities where it is needed most and reach people who may not otherwise receive a cardiac health screening.”
Baptist Heart offers three levels of heart screenings at two locations in Central Mississippi.
