Rev. Rufus Smith IV, senior pastor at Hope Church in Memphis, will be the guest speaker at the March Jimmy Terry Preaching Series event on Thursday March 15, 2018. The sermon will be held at Garrett Auditorium on Baptist Memphis’ campus from noon-1 p.m.
Rev. Smith joined Hope in September 2010 and in 2013 was elected senior pastor. Among many other distinctions, he helped found the Memphis Christian Pastor’s Network (MCPN), a clergy-only network bringing thought and action to reconciliation in Memphis. Rev. Smith also serves as the chair of the MCPN’s executive committee.
For three years he was the lead chaplain for the NBA’s Houston Rockets, and he continues to advise other local and national boards. He loves baseball, reading and walking, but his claim to fame is his wife Jacqueline of 32 years and their three children, Ruth, Rufus V, and Rhoda Anna.
