Go for a Ride to Support Milla’s House at Miles 4 Milla on May 20

Get your bikes ready! The 7th annual Miles 4 Milla takes place on Saturday, May 20, at Wiseacre Brewing Co. at 2783 Broad Avenue. Wiseacre also will host a post-ride party. If you won’t be in Memphis for the ride, you can still support Milla’s House by purchasing the softest t-shirt, which will be delivered to your home!

“Miles 4 Milla is a significant fundraising event for our free grief counseling services offered by Milla’s House, our Midtown Baptist Centers for Good Grief location. Fundraising efforts are critical and will help decrease the waiting list for our services,” said Angela Hamblen Kelly, administrator of bereavement services at Baptist Centers for Good Grief.

For 25 years, Baptist Centers for Good Grief has been helping children, teens and adults find the good in grief. Since its opening, Baptist Centers for Good Grief has provided more than 115,000 individual grief counseling sessions, and Milla’s House is one of three critical locations providing grief support. Milla’s House offers space for group and individual counseling, educational opportunities and camp or retreat experiences.

Milla’s House is named in memory of Milla Gieselmann, the 6-year-old daughter of Memphis couple Frazer and Dana Gieselmann, who died in 2016 of Batten disease, an inherited neurodegenerative disorder with no cure. Milla’s sister Elle also passed away from the disease. The Gieselmann’s third daughter, Ann Carlyle, tested negative and is healthy.

“We continue to be thankful for Dana and Frazer Gieselmann and their support. We are honored to help remember their daughters, Milla and Elle, through Milla’s House,” said Angela.

The Grief Center has been essential to the Gieselmann family’s journey through grief, just as it’s been so important to many families in the area who’ve lost loved ones. For more information, visit Baptist Centers for Good Grief.

Long Ride, Short Ride, Party Only or Shirt Only

You may also register for the post-ride party only, shirt only with local pick up, or shirt only by mail. The post-ride party will be held rain or shine at Wiseacre from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. and includes entertainment for kids, face painting, a band and dunk tank.
