Go for a Ride and Support Milla’s House at Miles 4 Milla on May 21

Get your bikes ready! The sixth annual Miles 4 Milla takes place on Saturday, May 21, at Wiseacre Brewing Co. at 2783 Broad Avenue in Memphis. Wiseacre also will host a post-ride party.

“Miles 4 Milla is a vital fundraising event for our free grief counseling services offered by Milla’s House, our Midtown Memphis Baptist Centers for Good Grief location. We currently have a waiting list for our services, so fundraising efforts are critical,” said Executive Director for Baptist Centers for Good Grief Angela Hamblen-Kelly.

Baptist Centers for Good Grief, Milla’s House provided more than 2,500 individual grief counseling sessions in 2021. The need for grief support has been even greater recently with the impact of COVID-19 and the city’s increased murder rate. The new location of Milla’s House offers more space for intensive groups, individual counseling, educational opportunities and camp or retreat experiences.

Milla’s House is named in memory of Milla Gieselmann, the 6-year-old daughter of Memphis couple Frazer and Dana Gieselmann, who died in 2016 of Batten disease, an inherited neurodegenerative disorder with no cure. Milla’s sister Elle also passed away from the disease. The Gieselmann’s third daughter, Ann Carlyle, tested negative and is healthy.

“We are so thankful for Dana and Frazer Gieselmann and their support. We are honored to help remember their daughters Milla and Elle through Milla’s House,” said Angela.

The Grief Center has been essential to the Gieselmann family’s journey through grief, just as it’s been so important to many families in the area who’ve lost loved ones. For more information, visit Baptist Centers for Good Grief.
