Five Baptist Memorial Hospitals Earn an “A” Hospital Safety Grade for Spring 2024

The Leapfrog Group honored five Baptist Memorial Hospitals with an “A” Hospital Safety Grade for Spring 2024, recognizing their achievements in protecting patients from harm and error in the hospital. Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle earned its 25th consecutive “A” Hospital Safety Grade, and Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County received its 12th consecutive “A” grade. Leapfrog also awarded “A” grades to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Carroll County, Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City and NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital, which received its fifth consecutive “A” grade.

Baptist Golden Triangle is the only hospital in Mississippi and one of only 15 hospitals in the country to earn an “A” grade in every Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade cycle since 2012.

“Earning 25 consecutive A’s from the Leapfrog Group is a significant achievement for our hospital — or any hospital,” said Rob Coleman, CEO and administrator of Baptist Golden Triangle. “Only a handful of hospitals across the country have achieved this status, and I am proud of our team for their ongoing commitment to providing high-quality health care. This grade confirms the consistency and excellence of care provided to Lowndes County residents at Baptist Golden Triangle.”

Leapfrog assigns a letter grade to general hospitals across the country based on more than 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm. Grades are updated every fall and spring.

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only ratings program for hospitals that’s based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and harm to patients. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
