Family STEM Night and SHE Leads the Way Aims to Engage Families, Inspire Youth

Family STEM Night and SHE Leads the Way Speaker Kayla Rodriguez Graff

Baptist has joined with Frayser Community Parent, Teacher, Student Association (PTSA) and Memphis STEM in Medicine Ecosystem to host Family STEM Night and SHE (Science, Health, Empowerment) Leads the Way on Thursday, Oct. 23 at Ed Rice Community Center in Memphis.

Family STEM Night and SHE Leads the Way is a hands-on learning experience for the entire family. The event aims to inspire and empower young people to pursue careers in STEM and discover the possibilities for innovation in their own city. Participants will engage in activities that reveal how science, technology, engineering and math are applied in real life.

Kayla Rodriguez Graff, CEO and co-founder of SweetBio, will provide insight into the world of entrepreneurship and biotechnology. Graff’s successful Memphis-based medical device company focuses on affordable wound care products.

“Family STEM Night and SHE Leads the Way will be a robust, multifaceted experience,” said Tiana Poirier-Shelton, Baptist community outreach coordinator. “Highlighting the local business success story of SweetBio will make the STEM pipeline feel accessible and achievable for local students, and the focus on family and community engagement will help to ensure that learning extends beyond the classroom.”
