Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi Recognizes Baptist DeSoto and Baptist Golden Triangle

Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto and Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle are among an elite group of five Mississippi hospitals recognized as top-performing hospitals within Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi’s Comprehensive Quality Model Program. They were honored during Blue Cross & Blue Shield’s third annual Quality Forum in August.

Baptist DeSoto earned a top performing spot for Plan All-Cause Readmissions.

“Baptist DeSoto is proud to participate in Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi’s Comprehensive Quality Model Program and to be recognized for our efforts to advance quality care for North Mississippians,” said Brian Hogan, Baptist DeSoto CEO and administrator. “By enhancing communication and care coordination, we have been successful in reducing readmissions and elevating the care we provide patients during and after their hospital stays.”

Baptist Golden Triangle took the top spot in three of the seven award categories — Overall Top CQM, Sepsis Management and Cardiac Care.

“Receiving recognition from Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi’s Comprehensive Quality Model Program in multiple quality categories is a great honor,” said Rob Coleman, Baptist Golden Triangle CEO and administrator. “This recognition demonstrates Baptist Golden Triangle staff’s commitment to excellence and providing safe and high-quality care for the community.”

The Comprehensive Quality Model is a value-based performance framework that prioritizes patient safety, adherence to evidence-based guidelines, effective health information management and improved patient outcomes. Thirty-one Mississippi hospitals participated in the CQM program, demonstrating improvements in patient care statewide. According to Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi, trend data indicates hospitals are improving in the management of sepsis care, maternity care and cardiac care.

“The Comprehensive Quality Model is guiding us towards better healthcare for all Mississippians,” said Dr. Lee Greer, chief medical officer at Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi, who commended the hospitals’ collective efforts. “We believe every person in Mississippi deserves safe, high-quality and efficient healthcare. The progress we’ve seen so far is a direct result of the collaborative work being done and shared at events like the forum. We are committed to continuing this culture of learning and improvement in the years to come.”
